Shredded foam. It may be solid foam or a mixture between the foam and Styrofoam to keep bags full, fluffy and comfy for a long time. These are usually recycled materials and are the least expensive option for filler.
Dried beans. It’s where the bean bags got their names and it is still a common filler of bean bags. You will also find that it is an environmentally safe alternative to synthetics.
Pine or cedar shavings. If you have pets in your home that love to cuddle up with your child, cedar will provide you with the added benefit of repelling fleas. On the downside, children may or may not like the scent.

You will find that there are still the basic round shaped bags available as well as those molded to look like a real seat with a back.
